Thank You to Susan ,for being such a great hostess,we all have such a good time at your place.

My First Dishes

When I was a young bride , and set up my first home, my mother gave me six three piece place settings as a wedding gift.

Now this was 33 years ago...You could still walk into a store and buy them new in the box , You can only find them on e-bay and antique stores now... They are very collectible....

Over the years I have added many pieces to this collection...

For many years these dishes where my eveyday dishes....

I now pull them out and just use them in the Fall , September -November...

It is by far my largest collection of dishes , They are USA Brown Drip Dishes... I think I have about 200 pieces now...

Thank you so much for stopping by, I always appreciate your visits.
Oh I love those dishes. I use to have some mugs that we used every day and I loved them. You have some beautiful pieces. I love the Hen casserole and the pretty deviled egg dish. They have always been one of my favorite patterns. Your tablecloth is especially lovely too. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHow cool to see your original dishes! They are perfect for Fall!
ReplyDeleteI have some of these from "back then" and have always loved them. I never knew what they were called. Such a nice post!
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember these! My mom used to have a lazy susan in this pattern, I think. They are a classic pattern, though, I can't imagine they will ever go out of style. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love these dishes! We have a set of them packed away that I am saving for my 19 year old daughter who is away at college. When I got new dishes, she made me promise to save them for her..writing her name on the boxes so her brother and sister would not take them. I forgot how pretty they are.
ReplyDeleteI remember we had some of those dishes growing up. I always loved them. Seeing your pretty tablescape brings back such warm memories.

Julie,
ReplyDeleteI love your table. It is perfect for fall! The hen in the center is so cute.
I remember seeing pieces of these dishes here and there. They are quite heavy aren't they? I bet they keep your food nice and hot on the cold evenings.
Wonderful Tablescape, Julie!

What a beautiful collection with a wonderful sentiment behind them. I love them. And I love love the trellis laurel pattern tablecloth! In fact, I upholstered 2 old parlor chairs in that exact fabric. Thank you for sharing your wonderful table and home with us.

Julie, isn't it fun to have dishes that are so sentimental as well as useful and perfect for a season? This is a wonderful set. Of course I love the rooster motif and the sitting hen. Thanks for sharing. Your table looks just perfect! Life has been coming at me fast so I didn't get a table done for this week. Hope to be back next week with something to share. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Julie!
ReplyDeleteYou have created such a homey tablescape...and brought back treasured memories for me, as well. My best friend's mom had these dishes...and I ate hundreds of meals and helped wash and dry them many, many times. I always loved eating at their home. It was always so warm and inviting...like your table.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Jane (artfully graced)
This set is lovely, and collectibles too! I would love to collect a nice dinner set, but I'd be worried they might stop making them.
